This is a great article. I've talked extensively with my research group about the necessity of making regular, steady progress toward our goals. It's nearly impossible to create anything of real value during a deadline rush. From the research perspective, the "cram" mentality leaves no time for reflection on the results and improvements from the reflection. It also leaves no time for us to improve our craft. In the words of the article:
... you don’t wait until you’re in olympic form to start training. You train to get into olympic form.
